Tagset | Madness Collection on AO3
Dublin Murder Madness Basic Rules
What are nominations?
If you want to request fic with a certain pairing or offer fic with a certain pairing, make sure it is in the tagset. If it is already in the tagset, you do not need to nominate it. You need an archiveofourown.org (AO3) account to nominate. Having this tagset will help the mods later on when they want to make a spreadsheet of all Madness requests, and that spreadsheet will hopefully help writers find your requests.
If you want a romantic or sexual relationship, format it like this: "Scorcher Kennedy/Frank Mackey/Stephen Moran (DMS - French)"
If you want a platonic relationship, format it like this: "Antoinette Conway & Stephen Moran (DMS - French)"
If you want a story focusing on a character (instead of a relationship), format it like this: "Cassie Maddox & None (DMS - French)"
The name order in a pairing is alphabetical by last name and does not imply anything about topping, etc.
There are three fandoms you can nominate relationships for: Dublin Murder Squad Series - Tana French, Dublin Murders (TV), and Crossover Fandom.
The tagset is here and nominations to it will be open from August 7, 2020 to August 14, 2020.
How do I sign up?
When signups open (from August 15, 2020 to August 23, 2020) you should be able to sign up here on AO3.
Please be sure to include a list of Do Not Wants (DNWs) in the Details box! Unless you genuinely are fine with receiving any kind of fic, in which case please say "No DNWs". DNWs should be specific. For instance, do not ask for "nothing icky" because it's very hard to know what that means. DNWs should also not force the author to only write one thing. For instance, do not DNW "fic where my chosen character isn't pregnant" because it's unfair to try and make your writer do one very narrow type of fic (in the example, pregnancy fic).
Likes, prompts, ship thoughts, general screaming, etc. is optional and can go into the Details box or into a letter which you can link in the "Optional Dear Author Letter URL" box.
Please keep in mind that optional details ARE OPTIONAL—this means that a writer only needs to include at least one of your requested relationships and avoid your DNWs. Writers are not obliged to write out a specific prompt or plot for you.
Am I guaranteed a gift?
No. But you also do not have to write a gift, either. If you want to be guaranteed a gift (and accept that you will need to write a gift in return), check out Dublin Murder Exchange, which is running at the same time.
Where do I publish gifts?
On archiveofourown.org (AO3), you should claim the prompt that you want to write for. Then, while logged in to AO3, you should be able to see all prompts that you have claimed. Hover over "Hi, [Your Username Here]!" on the top right of the AO3 interface, and there should be a dropdown. Click My Dashboard. Then, on the bottom left hand side, you should see "My Claims (X)" where X is the number of prompts you have claimed. Click on that. Then choose the prompt you want to fill and click the "Fulfill" button under it. That will take you to the publishing page.
There is no length requirement. Just make sure you do not include a Do Not Want (DNW). For example, if they DNW sexual assault and you have a sexual assault investigation in your fic? That's against the rules. Your fic must also include at least one of the relationships that your assignment asked for. And finally, your fic must be complete. It can end on a cliffhanger, it can be in a very experimental writing style, whatever you like, just please don't start writing a story, stop halfway through and just post it because you ran out of time.
Again, I can't emphasize this enough, if this is your first prompt madness and you're intimidated and/or confused, please feel free to comment on this post or email mods at ashling.and.hurricanes@gmail.com. We want you to sign up! We want to help!
When do I get my gift?
All gifts in the collection will be kept a secret until September 19, 2020, when they will become public. You should get an email from AO3 letting you know that your gift has been revealed.
When the works are revealed, the authors will initially be anonymous. The anonymity is a fun feature meant to help relatively new authors get some readership. Also, you can guess who wrote what, and if you're right, you get to gloat about it ;)
Anonymity will end on September 25, 2020, when authors will be revealed.
Note: Mods reserve the right to contact participants and act on any of the following issues as they see fit. Hopefully it's just a misunderstanding, but again, mods reserve the right to use their personal judgment.
—If you include a DNW in your signup that is very vague (like "DNW icky stuff") or that forces your writer to only write one thing (like "DNW characters not being pregnant").
—If you write a fic with a DNW that your recipient included in their signup box.
—If you upload a fic that's only half-finished. (Note: it's okay to have a cliffhanger ending, though!)
—Asshole behavior. I know it when I see it (see: Jacobellis v Ohio).
Dublin Murder Madness Basic Rules
- Every gift should avoid the recipient's Do Not Wants. DNWs are a list of things that they can't read about which will be included in their signup. Common DNWs include types of violence, types of sex, certain pairings, certain AUs.
- In order to participate, you need to have an archiveofourown.org account. If you do not have one and you want one, comment on this post or email ashling.and.hurricanes@gmail.com (mod has three invites).
